The NC-N01 is Neco's entry into the full-sized motorcycle industry.

This quirky-looking, nicely equipped 125cc motorcycle isn't made by Yamaha, Honda, or Kawasaki; rather, it's the newest model from China.

It's also perhaps the first Chinese 125cc with the credentials to compete with the finest from the "Big Four" thanks to its contemporary, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve, fuel-injected engine, tubular steel and aluminium frame, box-section alloy swing arm, muscular inverted forks, and monoshock.

However, you won't be paying "Big Four" prices. It costs just £2999 and is available from UK retailers, undercutting bikes like the Yamaha MT-125 by more than £1800 and the Kawasaki Z125 by more than a thousand while offering little in the way of performance and specification.

And it's not to be taken lightly if you're just starting out in biking on a tight budget with expenses like gear, insurance, and gas.

The Belgian distributor of Bluroc, Zontes, and CF Moto is bringing the NC-N01, the first full-sized bike from Neco, a former scooter specialist, into Europe. As a result, it has a strong pedigree.

The 124.2cc single-cylinder engine is the star of the show here, putting out a reported 14.8bhp, which is the maximum allowed in the A1 learner class. But that's not it; the rest of the bike also appears to be an improvement over standard Chinese fare.

It has an alloy-covered tubular steel trellis frame with inverted front forks and a monoshock rear suspension. Instead of using ABS, the front and rear disc brakes use a combined braking system to generate stopping power.

LED headlights, taillights, and indicators, along with a digital dash that shows all of your important information, offer an added premium touch.

Even while the motor and ancillaries are superb, the NC-entire N01's size are perhaps its most striking feature.

With a tank that holds a full 17 litres (the Kawasaki holds just 11) and a wheelbase of 1365mm (the dinky Z125's is just 1330mm), the NC-NO1 comes across as a more full-sized, substantial motorcycle.

It is currently available through UK dealers and comes with a two-year guarantee.
