I'm virtually convinced that anyone is reading this can appreciate a compact and capable dual-sport motorcycle, regardless of where they are located in the world. Although almost all manufacturers provide at least one dual-sport model, dual-sports are most practical, even for the typical commuter, in developing nations like India.

Having a motorcycle that is overengineered is always a good thing when riding in congested places with less than ideal road conditions. The XPulse 200 4V Rally Edition from Indian motorcycle maker Hero MotoCorp is the ideal urban enduro.

The company's rally vehicle served as inspiration for the design of the XPulse 200 4V Rally Edition, which was debuted in July 2022 but quickly sold out less than four days later, much to the chagrin of the nation's off-road enthusiasts.

As Hero puts it, "built to deliver the most authentic and exclusive rally experience," the Rally Edition is equipped with performance-oriented amenities that make it unique, even if that means just jumping curbs on your way to work. This is accomplished through the vehicle's long-travel suspension, knobby tyres, and of course, factory racing livery by Hero MotoSport. It also has the famous Indian rider CS Santosh's autograph, which attests to the bike's racing heritage.

The Hero XPulse 200 4V Rally Edition is one of the more potent dual-sports in its weight class in terms of performance. It has a 200cc single-cylinder engine that produces 12.1 ft-lbs of torque and 19 horsepower.

According to Male Le Masson, head of strategy and global product planning at Hero MotoCorp, "The Rally Edition brings exceptional off-road capabilities through factory fitted rally kit and tuned for the very best riders, together with a unique design inspired by our Dakar machines," in an article for the Indian publication Motoroids. Thus, it should come as no surprise that Hero's race-bred machine was in such high demand.

Retail price for the Hero XPulse 200 4V Rally Edition is Rs 152,100, or roughly $1,909 USD. Fortunately, Hero MotoCorp has now reopened reservations for this race-inspired dual-sport motorcycle for those who are still hoping to get their hands on one. However, it's likely that the bike will sell out quickly, so you should contact your local Hero dealer as soon as you can.
