The Ford Puma Hybrid Will Drive the 2022 World Rally Championship Season

No more Ford Fiesta World rally cars. From this year, the hybrid Ford Puma follows the new Rally 1 rules. That's ending the Puma Fiesta's 10-year top-flight rally career. The new car gets a Puma crossover body, which is a subcutaneous space frame chassis. Under the Rally 1 regulation, these cars no longer require a production base. These new cars are also equipped with a hybrid powertrain that can supply up to 100 kW (134 hp) and can be used in special stages. 9 photos The 2022 Puma Rally 1 still uses the 1.6-litre turbo from the Fiesta WRC. The exact output value is unknown, but it fluctuates in the range of 380 horsepower (283 kW). Thanks to the electric drive, these new Rally 1 cars can generate up to 500 horsepower (373 kW) at the push of a button. In a way, we have a better understanding of security, but we are back in the days of Group B rallies. A new Puma rally will also have to comply with the new restrictions. For example, it has less force than last season's Fiesta rally car. These also have lower suspension speeds and require the use of a 5-speed transmission. Loose pedals are not allowed. Center spacing has been restricted under the new rules. Craig Breen and co-driver Paul Neagle will lead Ford's 2022 WRC. Breen and Neagle joined the Hyundai World Rally team to put Ford back in the winner's circle. Other drivers and co-drivers on the M-Sport Ford World Rally team include Adrian Formoux and Alexandre Correa, Gus Greensmith and Jonas Andsson, and Sebastian Loeb and Isabel Garmish. The 2022 World Rally Championship season began at the Monte Carlo Rally in Monaco. This will happen from January 20, 2022 to January 23, 2022 with 17 planned phases.
