Subaru's 1,073 hp STI e-RA concept takes center stage in Tokyo

Subaru Tecnica International sets 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon With the introduction of two EV concepts, STIE-RA and Soltera STI concept cars, it will be on fire. With a carbon-neutral concept, it’s certainly a new era for the Japanese brand’s motorsports sector.  The protagonist of this year’s Subaru booth is the Subaru STIE-RA concept. This is part of the company’s STI E-RA Challenge project and is an STI in the near future. Motor sports study. The aim is to gain “experience and training in new technologies in the world of motorsport in this carbon-neutral era.”  The driving force behind the STI E-RA concept is four high torque motors (one motor located near each of the four wheels), and Subaru can employ four-wheel torque vectoring technology. Developed and supplied by Yamaha, these motors provide a total output of 1,073 horsepower (800 kW) from a 60kWH lithium-ion battery. Subaru sees this as the best direction to function as part of the future motorsport (FIA E-GT) regulatory all-wheel drive system.  In addition, the STI E-RA at the Nürburgring after 2023 will be seen with the goal of setting a lap time of 6 minutes and 40 seconds.     Subaru Solterra STI Concept Alongside the STI E-RA concept is the Solterra STI concept. Debut in Japan When In the United States November 2021.  Other than the aesthetic addition, there seems to be no performance bits added to the Solterra STI concept. The upgrade includes a roof spoiler, under spoiler cherry red, and other special parts.  The Solterra EV is driven by two motors, one for each axle, each producing 107 horsepower (80 kW). Total output of 215 hp (160 kW). With a 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the Solterra has a range of approximately 285 miles (460 km) according to the Japanese WLTC standard.
