Electric cars are selling diesel in Europe for the first time, surpassing the decades-old standard

Changes are happening in Europe and more Europeans than ever are ready to use electricity. Electric cars overtook diesel cars for the first time in 18 European countries in December 2021, according to data from the Financial Times, edited by automotive analyst Mattias Schmidt and announced earlier this week. cars bought 176,000 new electric vehicles compared to 160,000 diesels. In other words, the market share of electric vehicles is 20% and the market share of diesel is less than 19%.     The key difference here is that it's only for battery-powered electric vehicles. It is not the total value of electric vehicles, including hybrid vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles. According to historical data, overall sales of electric vehicles in September 2020 surpassed diesel.  Due to decades of fuel subsidies, diesel has become the fuel of choice across Europe. These include a cheaper fuel tax to artificially make fuel cheaper than gasoline. However, many European countries are starting to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles, and the EU is tightening emissions regulations and promoting the introduction of zero-emission vehicles from many car manufacturers. The Atlantic countries will also be phased out gradually. Ban on new cars In some cases, it will be powered by an internal combustion engine in 2030.
