2022 Volkswagen ID.4 price increased to $ 795

The 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 electric car launch will cost $ 41,995, an increase of $ 795 from last year, the automaker confirmed on its website.

This price increase is likely to be accompanied by an increase in range, although the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has yet to test the 2022 ID.4 electric car. Depending on the configuration, last year's model was rated at between 240 and 260 miles on a full charge.

The price is now as high as $ 50,135, including the mandatory destination fee of $ 1,195.

The wireless upgrade will make the range upgrade possible as VW plans to upgrade the vehicle's charging capacity from 125 kW to 135 kW. VW said late last year that other updates would include the ability to communicate directly with Electrify America charging stations for the ID.4 model and an automatic standby mode for the electronic parking brake.

The ability to talk to Electrify America's charging stations means drivers won't need to operate a charging card or access an app to connect their ID.4 EV. This ability is not surprising, as Charging Networks is a Volkswagen subsidiary that was part of a court settlement to offset emissions after the automaker was found to be knowingly cheating on EPA tests with its diesel models.
