2022 Subaru Solterra STI Concept Revealed, Not What You Expected

Subaru wasted no time giving its first series-production electric car, the Solterra, the ITS treatment. Anyway, that's part of it. In 2022, a concept called the Solterra STI was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. It has a sportier exterior design and a standard transmission. The Nürburgring, Solterra STI body kit is shown by STIE-RA. This includes a front splitter, rocker panel extension on either side, fins on either side of the rear bumper and a roof mount spoiler. Many of these add-ons are painted cherry red to create a visual link between the Solterra STI and other STI-badged cars displayed by Subaru in the Japanese capital. The 20-inch black wheels with cherry red accents add a finishing touch to the exterior design. Subaru doesn't post pictures of the interior. Enthusiasts expect a lot from the STI badge. This shows that, among other improvements, the displacement has been increased by 0.5 liters and a 42-horsepower bump has been added. Next generation WRX. Still, it doesn't look like Subaru has made any significant changes to the Solterra STI's transmission or chassis. In short, crossover. Need to speed up, slow down. Treat it like a family model outside for production. Power is supplied by a pair of electric motors (one per axle) that pump out 215 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels. Preliminary estimates suggest that the maximum driving range should be around 220 miles. Subaru didn't say whether the Solterra STI concept would eventually appear on showroom floors or just be a design exercise.
