Toyota GR Yaris: unveiled version with hydrogen combustion engine

After testing a Corolla with a hydrogen engine, Toyota has unveiled in the past few hours a special Toyota GR Yaris with the same engine under the hood, testifying to the potential of hydrogen as a fuel. Unlike traditional hydrogen cars (like the Mirai), the particular GR Yaris features an internal combustion engine that runs on hydrogen rather than gasoline . From the Mirai it borrows only the hydrogen tanks, so refueling is practically like a normal fuel cell car. Toyota GR Yaris Hydrogen The 1.6-liter G16E-GTS burns hydrogen instead of gasoline Under the hood of the Toyota GR Yaris is a 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine ( G16E-GTS ) which is closely related to that found in the GR Yaris that we find on the market, but with a modified fuel injection and fuel system for burning hydrogen instead of gasoline. In addition to breaking down the vast majority of gasoline emissions , hydrogen burns at a faster rate, so the small powertrain feels more responsive and snappy . If that's not enough, the GR Yaris has retained most of the features of the standard version, including the sound. Toyota GR Yaris Hydrogen Development is currently still in the early early stages The Japanese automaker claims that the development of hydrogen combustion engines is still in the early stages . Even if it is not yet ready for commercialization, this new project shows that Toyota wants to carry this system forward at all costs. In fact, the official press release reads that the Japanese brand is further refining its hydrogen engine technology through motorsports and intends to create an even better hydrogen combustion engine.
