Peugeot 208: move house in 2023?

Peugeot 208 is one of the major commercial successes of the French carmaker in recent years. The car, which with the release of the 108 from the manufacturer's range has become the new entry level of the Lion 's house , continues to grind important numbers. Despite this, as we wrote in another article of ours, Peugeot is already thinking about the mid-career restyling. This update, according to experts' forecasts, will take place in the course of 2023. In Figueruelas they hypothesize the arrival of the electric version of the Peugeot 208 But 2023 will be important for the Peugeot 208 for another reason as well. In fact, it is said that the car of the French company could change its house. The car is currently being produced at the Stellantis plant in Trnava , but apparently the group led by Carlos Tavares appears to have other plans for its famous B-segment car. In fact , there are rumors from Spain that the all-electric version of the Peugeot 208 could soon join the Opel Corsa-e at the Stellantis plant in Figueruelas near Zaragoza. The two cars are very similar by sharing not only the platform but also a large number of components. Therefore, merging their production would not only make sense but would also be very convenient for the Stellantis group which, as we know, wants to cut costs. The Stellantis plant hopes to increase its production in the coming years From the Figueruelas plant, they hope that the Peugeot e-208 will be the car that will join the cars produced in that factory from 2023, thus guaranteeing almost full occupation of the plant that suffered from the semiconductor crisis in 2021. Finally, we recall that Carlos Tavares and John Elkann recently visited this plant, reaffirming the centrality of the factory in Stellantis' future plans. Finally, we specify that the version with combustion engine of Peugeot 208 which will remain on the market for several years should be produced instead in Kenitra in Morocco.
