Ford Explorer EV: The start of production has been postponed to 2024

Ford was expected to officially unveil the full electric version of the Ford Explorer by the end of 2023 along with a similar variant of the Lincoln Aviator. However, this now seems somewhat unlikely as Automotive News has received a reminder sent to suppliers by the US automaker stating that both zero-emission models will go into production in December 2024 . We are talking about 18 months of delay. Ford Explorer Production will no longer take place in Cuautitlán According to reports, this decision was allegedly made by Ford because it does not want to build the Ford Explorer EV and Lincoln version alongside the Mustang Mach-E at the Cuautitlán plant in Mexico. Unfortunately, the source has not revealed where the two full electric SUVs will be assembled, but this choice could be due to an increase in production of the Mustang Mach-E. Lisa Drake , chief operating officer of Ford North America, said the Cuautitlán plant will now focus exclusively on the electric Mustang, as well as increasing production to 200,000 units per year by 2023. At this point, we just have to wait for the next few months to find out more information on the Explorer EV .
