A sporty style and latest generation engines. Aprilia SR GT is an “urban adventure” scooter designed to move around urban realities or even venture out on new routes, considering solutions that recall the enduro scene.

Design, technology and the Sport version

The new model of the Aprilia Urban Mobility proposal is recognizable by the aesthetics that refer to sportiness and the off-road world, together with a setting that favors an active driving position considering a wide motorcycle-style handlebar, long-travel suspension and a pronounced height from the ground to which to add generously sized tires and “all-terrain” tread.

On the front you can see a full LED lightswith three elements, an aspect connected to the Aprilia sports cars. Equally characteristic is the double fairing on the sides of the shield, as is the reference to the enduro panorama by observing the suspended windshield and the wide naked handlebar already mentioned. This is linked to the vehicle through a die-cast aluminum riser on which the Aprilia logo appears. The handlebar controls are also of motorcycle origin.

The digital instrumentation on the LCD screen stands out with various information that can be recalled using the MODE button , located on the left block. By connecting a smartphone to the vehicle via Bluetooth, if an APRILIA MIA connectivity system is presentproposed on request, notifications of incoming calls and messages also appear on the instrumentation. The system allows the management of phone calls via a connectivity button on the right control block and the use of the voice commands of the mobile device to make calls or play music, for example.

On the side, the scooter is characterized by taut lines and contained overhangs that still underline its sporty style. The central tunnel includes the tank and forms a connection between the front and rear of the vehicle. A vision also reinforced by the plate on the rear wheel that slims the rear area with integrated passenger handles and a distinctive full LED optical group, which also includes directional indicators.

The riding position is less rearward and more inward than a compact GT scooter, being able to assume a more forward and more relaxed position. A possibility favored by an ergonomic footboard whose external setting makes one think of the protective plates of off-road motorcycles.

Together with Aprilia SR GTthere is also a Sport set- up characterized by more gritty graphics and finishes.

Aprilia SR GT can wear the Aprilia Black , Street Gray and Infinity Blue colors , all with footrests, sides and passenger handles in silver gray. The saddle is black with gray stitching and the rims are black.

The Sport variant refers to the liveries of the sports bikes with satin Street Gold , Iridium Gray and Red Raceway colorsassociated with a two-tone black and gray saddle with red stitching and red colored circles. On the sides of the shield you can see the large Aprilia “a”, the central tunnel and the sides are in matt black, the passenger handles in the same color as the vehicle and the Aprilia writing appears on the silver gray footrests.

Technique

The scooter features a double cradle frame in high-strength steel tubes associated with a brand new, specially defined long-travel suspension compartment.

Up front is a Showa fork whose stems are 33mm in diameter with 122mm of travel, 22% more than the competition as shown. Behind is a pair of double-acting Showa shock absorbers and coil spring with manageable preload in five positions. The excursion reaches 102 mm , more than 7% compared to the competition in this case.

The braking system consists of a 260mm daisy-shaped front disc and another 220mm rear disc, whose profile is still daisy for the 200 models and on the 125 Sport version.

The 25-liter underseat compartment can accommodate a full-face helmet, but accessories are also offered to enhance the scooter's load capacity, including a spacious 33-liter aluminum top box. The tank, then, has a capacity of 9 liters and promises about 350 km of autonomy.

Another characterizing aspect is the minimum distance from the ground of 175 mm, a fact that distinguishes it from traditional GT scooters, allowing the vehicle to overcome bumps and slopes effectively. The weight is 144 kg with a full tank, which becomes 148 kg by opting for the specimen 200. The scooter has light alloy wheels of different sizes: 14 inchesat the front and 13 inches at the rear, fitted with “all-terrain” tires with slightly knobbly large section treads of 110/80 and 130/70.

Engines

The propulsion units of the i-get family with electronic injection with four-valve distribution and liquid cooling are Euro 5 approved.

All the models in the Aprilia SR GT range are equipped with a Start & Stop system called RISS (Regulator Inverter Start & Stop System ). A solution that provides for the elimination of the classic starter motor in place of a brushless electric machine installed on the crankshaft.

Together with the single cylinder engine i-get of 125 cc , on the model Aprilia SR 200 GT debut an unprecedented single-cylinder 174 cc . The maximum power of the most compact unit is 11 kW at 8,750 rpm with a peak torque of12 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The power of the unit featured on the 200 model reaches 13 kW at 8,500 rpm with a peak torque of 16.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm.

The more pronounced performance required the adoption of a more efficient radiant pack, so the CVT transmission, which features a new larger clutch, was also revised to adapt to the new power curve.
