Renault Air4: the flying showcar that celebrates 60 years of the 4L [PHOTO and VIDEO]

Air4 is the name of the futuristic flying showcar unveiled by Renault and created in collaboration with the Arsenale design center . The Renault Air4 concludes with a flourish the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the 4L , the iconic Losanga model sold in over 8 million units in more than 100 countries in its 30 years of existence. Bold and extravagant evolution of an icon As a link between past and future, the Renault 4L has been revised in a decidedly pioneering and extravagant way, even imagining for it a future on the invisible motorways that wind over our heads. From a simple, efficient and versatile vehicle, as was the original Renault 4, produced between 1961 and 1992, the historic car takes shape to give life to the Air4, turning the Renault 4 into a flying car. Carbon fiber vehicle with four double propellers at the corners The Air4 consists of the vehicle, a reinterpretation of the original Renault 4L, completely designed in carbon fiber. If lines and volumes are the same, the car offers new dynamic performance thanks to new stiffness values, also necessary to allow the vehicle to rise in the air and fly. The showcar does not need wheels to move, as it is equipped with four double propellers , one for each corner of the vehicle. The chassis rests in the center of the structure, while the driver accesses the passenger compartment by lifting the reinvented body of the Renault 4, which is fixed at the front. It soars up to 700 meters high Technically, the Renault Air4 is powered by 22,000 amp-hour lithium-polymer batteries, which generate a total output of around 90,000 mAh. The vehicle can reach a maximum horizontal speed of 26 m / s with an inclination of 45 ° during flight and a maximum inclination of 70 °. It can fly up to 700 meters high with a take-off speed of 14 m / s, limited to 4 m / s for safety reasons, and a landing speed of 3 m / s. Finally, the Air4 offers a maximum vector thrust of 380kg, which is 95kg per propeller. Preview in public in Paris and then in the USA After today's digital presentation, the Air4 will make its public debut starting Monday 29 November in the heart of Paris , at the Atelier Renault on the Champs Élysées , where it will be exhibited until the end of the year. At the beginning of 2022, the Renault 4 will fly to the United States, to Miami and then to New York, before also making a stop in Macau.
