Mazda MX-5 2022: confirmed the debut in the coming weeks

The next generation of the roadster is sure to be hybrid.

The current generation of the Mazda MX-5 has been on the market since 2015 and continues to be a highly regarded car. For the next generation we will have to wait a little longer, but in the coming weeks an updated model will debut. In the past few hours, a message has been posted on Mazda's Japanese website stating that production of the current MX-5 (known as the Roadster in Japan) will soon be discontinued and a new model will be announced in the winter. Mazda MX-5 2021 According to a spokesperson for the Japanese automaker's US division, the MX-5 will get an update with the arrival of model year 2022 with more details to be announced in the coming weeks. It is likely that the next makeover of the Miata could be the last chance to buy a non-electrified Mazda roadster. Indeed, as previously reported, the Mazda MX-5 Miata will eventually go hybrid, in line with the Asian manufacturer's plans to electrify its entire range by 2030. Unfortunately, the company has not yet confirmed which internal combustion engine will be adopted on the next generation of the car. It will also be interesting to see how Mazda addresses the inevitable additional weight of adding electrification. We will have to wait for the next few weeks to find out more information on the new restyling.
