The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a finalist of the prestigious European Car of the Year (COTY) 2022 award . The 100% electric midsize crossover developed by the South Korean carmaker is one of seven candidate models vying to win Car of the Year award . The final vote will take place at the end of February and the winning car will be announced on Monday 28 February in Geneva.
The Ioniq 5 was selected from a list of 39 candidate models and will compete against six other cars for the final victory. This nomination crowns a year of success for the first model of the new Ioniq brand from the Korean house. In addition, the car was recently named German Car of the Year 2022 , just six months after its official unveiling.
The main features
We remind you that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is based on the E-GMP ( Electric-Global Modular Platform ) platform , developed specifically for battery electric vehicles. It is available with 58 or 72.6 kWh batteries and with rear or all-wheel drive. The first, with a 72.6 kWh battery, promises a maximum range of 481 km with a recharge symbol in the combined medium cycle WLTP.
Thanks to 800V technology, the zero-emissions crossover takes just 18 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using an ultra-fast charging station up to 350 kW. Finally, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 features Vehicle-to-Load ( V2L ) technology to power any electrical device such as a laptop or electric scooter while driving or while the vehicle is parked.
