Historic vehicles: simpler periodic reviews with the new decree

The overhaul of a historic and collector's vehicle registered before January 1st 1960 becomes easier from November 20th. Thanks to the innovations introduced by the new decree, it is now possible to carry out periodic inspections of historic cars in any authorized workshop and no longer, as was previously the case, only in the provincial centers of the Civil Motorization.    In this way, welcoming the requests of the world of collectors and the Italian Historical Automotoclub (ASI), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility introduces a novelty that avoids a problem that is often not easy to manage such as that of moving, often for several kilometers. , of a vehicle over fifty years old.  Revision in Motorization only in special cases From now on, moreover, it is necessary to contact the provincial offices of the Motorization only if the historical vehicle cannot face the tests on the dynamometric rollers of the normal workshops. In this case, the braking checks will take place with the use of a GPS device and the vehicle at a speed of at least 40 kilometers per hour to calculate a deceleration greater than 4.5 meters per second. The exemption from emission control for vehicles built before 4 August 1971 was also included in the new decree. Reducing bureaucracy and simplifying the procedures for regulating one's own classic car or motorcycle is worth more than economic incentives ".
