Nissan wants 40% of US sales to be electric by 2030

Nissan plans to sell more electric vehicles in the US by the end of this decade. In fact, the Japanese company has set a definitive target: 40 percent of its US sales will be fully electric by 2030, and even more will be electrified. The automaker still plans to electrify all of its vehicles in key markets by the early 2030s, with a goal of becoming carbon neutral across Nissan's operations and products by 2050. Ariya will be sold in conjunction with the LEAF in 2022 as part of Nissan's push to bring this about. Depending on the battery pack and drivetrain, the Ariya's range can be as much as 300 miles (483 kilometers) in the United States, though it depends on the version with AWD. Approximately $45,000 is the starting price of the Nissan Ariya. Nissan's press release mentioned more electric models would follow the Ariya. We have yet to see any new all-electric Nissan looming as of this writing, though a larger crossover to replace the Ariya is speculated to be in the works. Within a few years, we are likely to hear about a new model. With the 2022 model year approaching, Nissan is already thinking about aggressively selling LEAFs in the US. The Nissan LEAF was recently subjected to a major price cut bringing its price down to under $21,000 after tax credits at the beginning of this month. LEAFs are also available for a low $89 per month lease deal in some areas of the United States. Meanwhile, the Biden administration announced it will sign an executive order setting a 50 percent EV sales target for the United States by 2030.
