It starts at $29,015 and includes updates that make it ready to go head-to-head with Tacoma, Ranger, Colorado, and others.

That's great news! Nissan has finally released a new Frontier. A Trailfinder's Emme Hall has already ridden the 2022 Frontier, which has been redesigned inside and out from the ground up. In a separate announcement Tuesday, Nissan revealed a price for its new pickup truck. At $29,015 as a starting price, the pickup looks to be ready to go.

With a starting price around the same as the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, and Toyota Tacoma, the Frontier is definitely in the running. Work trucks by Ford and Chevrolet were excluded since they are much cheaper, but their target market isn't the average consumer.

Nissan's Frontier comes in the S trim, which means a truck without four doors and two-wheel drive. It will cost you just under $30,000 when shopping. King Cab trucks are available in a variety of trim levels from the basic S trim to the top-of-the-line SV trim, so several options are available. Adding four-wheel drive to an S trim, King Cab, will cost you $32,215 for the Frontier with the cheapest price.

If you prefer the added benefits of a four-door, mid-size pickup, the price increases to $30,515 to start. You still get the S trim and rear-wheel drive as standard. In addition to the Crew Cab configuration, Nissan's 4x4 pickup starts at $33,515 before any options. All of the cars have a five-foot bed. However, the Japanese automaker does offer a six-foot bed long wheelbase truck for $38,215. This model is only offered in the more expensive SV trim, so be prepared to fork over some cash for it.

Among all trims, the Pro-X and Pro-4X models are exclusive to the Crew Cab body style. Currently, Nissan has two vehicles for off-roading: the former is rear-wheel drive, while the latter is four-wheel drive. You can expect to pay $35,415 for the Pro-X and $38,415 for the loaded Pro-4X.

There are only three optional packages you can choose from along the way: the Premium, Convenience, and Technology packages. If you're looking at cheaper trucks, you'll only be able to get the tech package. Other items, such as driver-assist systems, a 9-inch infotainment screen, and others, are locked away.

The first Nissan trucks will be delivered to dealers this September. It's game on for the mid-size truck segment then.
