2022 Honda Monkey

With a new engine, fifth gear, and improved suspension, the 2022 Honda Monkey was unveiled in Europe on June 21, 2021.

Monkeys have a rich history. Originally created as a Japanese theme park attraction, the Monkey (often referred to as the Z50 or Mini Trail) became one of the most popular recreation vehicles in Europe and North America by the late 1960s. Vintage minibike enthusiasts, restorers, and customizers gave it cult-like status during the 1980s before it eventually became a surprisingly sought-after commodity.

The Honda Monkey, based on the Grom, was reintroduced in 2018 as a 125cc road-legal motorcycle. A lightweight, agile, and ridiculously fun monkey, the Monkey is similar to its stablemate. Despite its dual utility, it begs to be customized at least a little by its owner-regardless of his or her mechanical ability.

The Honda Monkey receives the same 124cc air-cooled Euro-5 engine as the Honda Grom for the 2022 model year. Producing 9.3 horsepower and 8.1 ft-lbs. of torque, this new mill has a new intake, reshaped airbox, and revised catalyzer. Rather than the outgoing three-chamber exhaust muffler, the exhaust muffler has been redesigned with a new single-chamber design. Additionally, the exhaust note created by this process is said to be more pleasing.

There will be no complaints from riders because Honda upgraded the gearbox from four to five speeds. Additionally, my gear ratio is also lower overall, so I'll be less buzzy during long rides. As for the Monkey's fuel economy, Honda estimated it will get 1.5 liters per 100 kilometer (188 mpg), while its top speed will be 91 kilometres per hour (56 mph).

To smooth out bumpy rides and prevent the rear suspension from bottoming out, we have fitted the rear shocks with two-stage springs and redesigned damper rubbers. 102mm of travel front and back, 175mm of clearance on the ground. In addition to the ABS braking system, there are a pair of 190mm discs at the rear, and a 220mm disc at the front.

It will be offered in Pearl Glittering Blue, Banana Yellow, and Pearl Nebula Red, and has a MSRP of £3,899 (about $4,650 USD). By August 2021, bikes will be on dealer floors.
