It has been nearly two years since the Yamaha XSR155 was introduced in multiple Asian markets, and Indian Team Blue fans have long awaited its arrival in their country. Considering their dismay when it was finally announced that Yamaha's XSR babies would not be coming to India, I can only imagine how angry they were. There was still hope, however, as rumors of a small-displacement neo-retro machine started sprouting like wildfire.
The FZ-X was originally supposed to be a small-displacement adventure bike. The decision was made to not launch the XSR155 in India after a test mule was spotted lurking around the country's streets. As it turned out, Team Blue's FZ-X occupied the space normally occupied by the XSR155 in its lineup.

In terms of features, the FZ-X is similar to, if not superior to, the XSR155 in other Asian markets. The Yamaha FZ-X features a digital instrument panel and a Bluetooth smartphone accessory, called Y-Connect. A rider can view vital information such as the engine health, service intervals, and the location of the bike. While your phone is connected to the interface you are notified if any new messages or missed calls have arrived.

Yamaha has no other retro-modern bike in the Indian market, and Indian motorcycle enthusiasts have a fondness for anything retro, so demand for this bike is likely to be high. We can expect the FZ-X to sell like hotcakes once deliveries to local showrooms begin, despite being Rs 12,000 or around $160 USD more expensive than the standard FZ-S at Rs 1.20 lakh or $1,622 USD. Alternatively, if you do not want Bluetooth, the base model can be purchased for $1,581 USD.
